How the SSBCI Technical Assistance Program Works in Illinois?
Understand the funding source behind SBGI and how it enables us to deliver no-cost services to entrepreneurs.
SBGI operates under the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
Our role is to deliver “Technical Assistance”—hands-on help for small businesses seeking loans, grants, or growth capital.
Under this program:
- 70% of participants must be socially and economically disadvantaged (SEDI).
- 30% may be other small or very small businesses.
- All services are provided at no charge.
- SBGI reports quarterly to DCEO on outcomes and impact.
